Claudia Winkleman's daughter was rushed to hospital after she was set on fire in a freak Halloween night accident, it was revealed today.
Matilda Thykier, eight, is reported to have been injured when her costume was set alight in an accident with a candle while enjoying Halloween night near Marble Arch in central London on Friday.
Her mother missed the following day's Strictly Come Dancing programme and the BBC admitted her daughter was unwell - but it has since emerged the incident was more serious than first thought.
Miss Winkleman, 42, is at her bedside and it is unclear when she will return to the BBC show.
Along with her film producer husband Kris Thykier, she said in a statement: 'Our daughter was involved in an accident on Friday night while celebrating Halloween.
‘She is having the best care possible and we are hopeful of a full recovery. We would like to thank everyone that has been so supportive and particularly the NHS doctors, nurses and staff who have been absolutely incredible.
