A mother has been left furious after discovering a dog she says mauled her five-year-old daughter is still running free.
Schoolgirl Connie Rees was playing with her brother when a bullmastiff jumped at her near her home in Swansea, South Wales.
The incident left the youngster hospitalised and needing 25 stitches to the side of her head.
But six weeks on, her mother Amy is angry that the animal she says attacked her daughter is still with its owner.
Mrs Rees and her husband witnessed the incident which they say has left them in shock.
The mother-of-two, 33, said: 'It was a frenzied attack. The only choice is to put the dog down.
'The children went to say "hi" and the dog went mad and lunged at Connie. It jumped up on her - it felt like it was all happening in slow motion.
'I thought the dog was on a lead, but as I turned my head I could see it on top of my daughter. She is only tiny.'
Mrs Rees and her husband had to pull the dog off of little Connie who was left covered in blood and slobber.
